It's on.
The year is 2012, and Reese Witherspoon (RW) is in the thick of a metamorphosis. She’s 36. And Hollywood doesn't make roles for females “her age.” She’s told it time and again.
Which brings us to Pacific Standard - her latest venture.
It's a production company, and it's indicative of what RW knows best. One career path isn't mutually exclusive to another.
She's an actress. A producer. An entrepreneur. And a mom.
And she's determined to shed light on all types of women. Women who are ambitious, abrasive, and dangerous. Real women with real power.
So yeah…It’s on.
She dives nose deep into novel after novel, averaging 3-4 per week, before settling on two. "Gone Girl" and "Wild." It takes two years. Two years and both films are nominated for Oscars.
But RW doesn't stop there.
She segues into television with her 2019 debut of "Big Little Lies." It pulls 8 Emmy Awards.
Historically, success in production is contingent upon being male. She's out to prove otherwise with the launch of Hello Sunshine, an umbrella organization that features female-led book clubs, podcasts, and talk shows.
It’s proof:
That boardrooms need women.
They green light the films that men don’t - content featuring women “her age.”
Content like “The Morning Show.”
It’s RW’s, and it debuts Apple’s 2019 streaming service.
So take one from Reese Witherspoon. Even the box office can't put her in a box. It’s on.
And that’s the skinny.
Love the reminder to not be boxed in!!!
Thank you Isabella!
